Lately I’ve had this habit of putting parts of a song I like as my Yahoo Messenger status message. What’s amusing though is that people buzzed me every now and then, telling me the title of the song. Of course, in my mind I was like, Uhmm, I’m not asking you for the title, Smartypants! But a few times a couple of people would just pop in and ask something related to my status message, not knowing that it’s part of a song. Here's a couple of them:

1. Song Title: Geek in the Pink by Jason Mraz
Line: Don’t judge it by the color, confuse it for another, You might regret what you let slip away
YMBuddy1: nakakaloka naman yung status mo (your status message is cracking me up)
Me: eh? oh!
YMBuddy1: hahaha
Me: that’s part of a song
Me: Geek in the Pink by Jason Mraz
YMBuddy1: talaga? (really?)
YMBuddy1: didn’t know
YMBuddy1: sorry
Me: yup, hehehe. it’s ok.
YMBuddy1: kala ko si ex na naman yan (thought it was your ex-girlfriend again)
YMBuddy1: rocking your world
YMBuddy1: hahaha
Me: hehehe
2. Song Title: Somebody To Love by Queen
Line: They say I got a lot of water in my brain
YMBuddy2: it’s usually called Brain Fluid
Me: lol
Me: not really
Me: it’s from a song
Me: somebody to love by queen
YMBuddy2: aahhh…
3. Song Title: The Boss by Diana Ross
Line: I got a one step plan to prove it, Guide in my pocket for fools
YMBuddy3: okay, what did *** do this time?
Me: huh?
YMBuddy3: what happened in your meeting?
Me: ah
Me: the usual crap
YMBuddy3: so this plan of yours, does it involve putting *** out of commission?
Me: WTF??? the stat msg is from a song by Diana Ross
YMBuddy3: oh! sayang. thought you figured out a way to return the favor *** *** *** ***.
4. Song Title: The House Is Rockin’ by Stevie Ray Vaughan
Line: The house is a rockin, don’t bother knockin’
Me: dude, was waiting for you to send me the specs!
YMBuddy4: But your status message said not to disturb you
Me: uhm, that’s from a song…
Me: the house is a rockin’ don’t bother, come on in!
YMBuddy4: Well, you should have completed the chorus!
Me: doh!

I probably won’t do that again anytime soon, coz I realized that people are actually making a big fuss out of it. Anyway, here’s a couple of blog-worthy ones. But heck, with these types of reactions, which at some point puts a smile on my face, I think I'll just go on. Part two of this article is in the works BTW, with songs from Three Dog Night, and uhm, I'll get back to you when I get more.
